BioThis is our shop and studio blog. I have a more personal blog - often with pictures of Prague and things/art/images that we find interesting - at baba-studio. We run a design studio, publishing company and soon we hope a "bricks and mortar" shop in the centre of Prague, close to the Castle. We're interested in doing lushly visual, symbolic work that touches on surrealism and the bizarre. We're also recyclers of found imagery - and have a huge library of old and interesting illustrations and photographs, which turn up in new forms in much of our work.
The shop began life in autumn 2005. It sells our own designs and productions (and vintage and antique finds from around the studio) and will soon also include our selection of other Czech makers. We expect the shop to grow considerably over 2006, and we'll post updates (and the odd ramble muse or moan) up on this blog.
Right now we pretty much only sell our textile products direct, although books and cards are distributed through bookstores all over the world. We may begin selling textiles through retailers although we fear this could shoot up the prices (which we can keep low as everything is made here and sold online). But, well we'll see. The shop is beginning to have a life of its own and (even with tarot cards) it's hard to predict what's next!
